Schumer Blames Trump for Contracting Virus

Democrats can’t hide their joy that Trump tested positive for COVID-19. Senator Schumer spouts off that it’s Trump’s own fault.

President Donald J. Trump has tested positive for the Wuhan virus.  So has the First Lady, Melania Trump.  White House adviser Kellyanne Conway has received a positive test result.  The President’s campaign manager Bill Stepien has the virus.  So does top White House aide Hope Hicks.  The Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel is infected.  Additionally, Senators Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Mike Lee of Utah have also tested positive.  Both Tillis and Lee were with President Trump on Saturday, September 26, 2020 when he announced Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee to replace the recently deceased Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

There is little surprise in the left’s response to this news.  Hate in politics is nothing new.  Some people openly cheered when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  The hatred many Democrats held for President Abraham Lincoln can best be described as untamed fury.  Whether Democrats today hate Trump more than they hated Lincoln during his presidency is a question for historians to consider.  Even if he loses the upcoming election, Trump still has a lot of history to write between today and January 20, 2021.

The struggle for House and Senate Democrats to tame their inside voices must have been torturous.  For many of them, any kind words were made begrudgingly.  Trump supporters were quick to separate the wheat from the chaff.   Senator Chuck Schumer’s statement in response to the news of Trump testing positive for the Wuhan virus illustrates this point.  Schumer starts out nice enough.

“I wish President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and any White House staff members who are infected a speedy recovery. I join the nation in praying for the First Family’s health and safety.”

Even a seasoned politician and frequent tall-tale teller such as Schumer couldn’t stop himself from falling into I-told-you-so mode within the same statement!  He could have left well-wishes stand alone, but apparently, he could not muster that level of consideration.  By the last sentence of the 2nd paragraph of his statement, Schumer shifts from hope and prayer to his authentic self.

Well, at least he used a little tact.  Tact is the ability to tell a person to go to hell and have them happy to be on their way.  Every politician that has won re-election has tact.  Here’s the rest of Schumer’s heartfelt message of a full and speedy recovery for the President of the United States:

“ Though they have not done so in the past, the administration must now follow the science and all recommended health protocols in order to not put additional people at risk. And they must be completely transparent.

“This episode demonstrates that the Senate needs a testing and contact tracing program for Senators, staff, and all who work in the Capitol complex. We simply cannot allow the administration’s cavalier attitude to adversely affect this branch of government. It is imperative that all results be made public in order to contain a possible outbreak and so we can determine the need for Senators and staff to quarantine or self-isolate.

“Finally, what happened to President Trump is a reminder of why the whole country, including Senators and staff, must follow the science and follow the protocols laid out by the CDC and public health officials. When you ignore the science, you don’t wear a mask, and you don’t follow social distancing guidelines, it puts you and everyone around you at risk. Following science is a must.”

Schumer shows his hand in the 3rd paragraph.  He will say in any microphone he finds that in the name of public safety and national security, the Senate must shut its doors, and all senators and their staffs should quarantine at home until there is a proven vaccination for the Wuhan virus.  With Schumer, you never have to dig too deep to uncover his true motives.  This is all about blocking confirmation hearings for Amy Coney Barrett.

Surprisingly, because it’s outside the current narrative, Schumer admits in his last paragraph – if you contract the Wuhan virus, it is most likely your fault!  Schumer wrote, “When you ignore the science, you don’t wear a mask, and you don’t follow social distancing guidelines, it puts you and everyone around you at risk.”  What he is saying is it is Trump’s fault he contracted the Wuhan virus.  Schumer is correct in this regard.  It is Trump’s fault that he caught the Wuhan virus.  And if it is Trump’s fault that he caught the virus, then it is everyone else’s fault if they caught the virus too.  It’s not Trump’s fault if I do not social distance.  It’s not Trump’s fault if I do not wear a mask.  It’s not Trump’s fault if I do not wash my hands and use hand sanitizer.  It’s not Trump’s fault if I get sick with the Wuhan virus.

Trump is not responsible for the Wuhan virus or any of the deaths associated with the virus, just as previous presidents were not responsible for pandemic or virus-related deaths during their administrations.  To believe that Trump is responsible for every person that has died from the Wuhan virus, because, as the Democrats maintain, he didn’t protect them from the virus, is cruel and unjustifiable.

The best way to avoid the Wuhan virus is to quarantine at home and avoid other people.  Some people have this luxury.  Most do not, including our elected officials and the President of the United States.
