Key 2022 Senate Races for Republicans

Republicans prepare for the 2022 Elections with the goal of winning back the House and the Senate.

With the Biden Administration governing from the far-left instead of the anticipated left-of-center, the 2022 elections present a great opportunity for the Republican Party to regain control of the United States Senate. The GOP is already well-positioned to take over the House of Representatives in 2022. The Senate will prove more challenging, but the democrats are certainly making it easier with the introduction of each new liberal bill.  When so much of the left’s agenda requires getting around the U.S. Constitution instead of protecting it, the democrats should expect to be rejected at the ballot box.

On November 8, 2022, there will be 34 senate seats up for regular election.  Democrats currently hold 14 of the seats. Republicans hold the remaining 20 seats. There are 5 republican incumbents not seeking re-election. Senators Richard Burr (NC), Pat Toomey (PA), Rob Portman (OH), Richard Shelby (AL), and Roy Blunt (MO) each have announced they will not be seeking another term.  Two of those states, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, are considered swing states.  Ohio leans republican, while Alabama and Missouri are solid-republican states.  Republicans need to run well-funded, strong candidates in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Ohio if they hope to retain those seats.

The most vulnerable democrat heading into the 2022 elections has to be Georgia democrat, Senator Raphael Warnock.  Many Georgia republicans remain outraged about the 2020 election results from their state. It still remains beyond comprehension for conservative Georgians that the Peach State voted for a democrat President and not one, but two democrat senators.  With the passage of new voting laws to protect the integrity of the Georgia vote, Warnock should be defeated by any republican candidate not named Perdue or Loeffler.  If Herschel Walker runs against Warnock, the race should be extremely competitive.  If Walker avoids stumbling during the campaign, he should be the next United States Senator from the Great State of Georgia.

New Hampshire democrat, Senator Maggie Hassen won election in 2016 by .01 percent of the vote.  If Governor Chris Sununu runs against Hassen, he should win.  Hassen’s voting record against pro-business legislation has placed her at the bottom of the Club for Growth’s annual voting record scorecard with an embarrassing score of 3 out of 100.  As Governor, Hassen’s vetoed a bill requiring a 30-day residency for voting.  Then and current Secretary of State, William Gardner supported the bill.  He said the state currently has “drive-by voting.”  Hassen also vetoed a 2nd Amendment bill that would have restored the rights of New Hampshire residents to constitutionally carry firearms.  In summary, Senator Maggie Hassen favors loose elections, liberal power grabs, and less liberty and freedom for individuals.  If republicans do not take her seat in 2022, they should be embarrassed.

Arizona is a pro 2nd Amendment state. So much so that on April 6, 2021 Governor Doug Ducey signed HB 2111, the 2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act, into law making Arizona a 2nd Amendment sanctuary state. And then there is democrat Senator Mark Kelly.  He says he supports the 2nd Amendment.  What he doesn’t say is he supports the Joe Biden, liberal version of the 2nd Amendment. That’s the one where the government gives you permission to keep a revolver in the drawer of your nightstand so long as it has a keyed, trigger locking mechanism, with the key locked into a safe deposit box at a bank at least 10 miles away. Kelly says he also favors the government allowing the citizens to hunt and target practice. What he doesn’t say is he favors the banning of most semi-automatic rifles.  If it’s black, semi-automatic, and a rifle, in Senator Kelly’s liberal orbit, that’s an assault rifle and therefore should be banned.

If the Arizona GOP does its work well and runs a solid, center-to-right, pro-2nd Amendment candidate against Senator Kelly in 2022, the republicans will gain this senate seat.  It’s not too soon to start with the messaging. In fact, if they don’t start now, it might be too late. The voters of Arizona need to be reminded of what’s at stake if they re-elect Mark Kelly as one of their senators. They need to be reminded that an armed citizenry is the only force that one day, perhaps in the near future, will be able to make a stand against tyranny. They need to be reminded of the original intent of our Second Amendment Right. Mark Kelly needs to set aside personalities and rest on the principles expressed by our founders.  A reminder from one of them…

Patrick Henry said, “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”  (1778)

If republicans can retain the seats they have, and focus with laser-like precision on these upcoming senate races in Georgia, New Hampshire, and Arizona, the GOP will regain the majority in the U.S. Senate.
