During the second Democratic presidential debate in Miami this past week, the candidates were asked if they would support decriminalizing the act of illegally entering the United States.  Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), along with the nine other candidates on stage, raised their hands in approval.  All ten candidates agreed that entering the United States of America illegally should be a civil, and not a criminal offense. 

 It’s hard to imagine that reducing the penalty for illegal border crossings into the United States would have a positive impact along the southern border.  The U.S. does not have the manpower or infrastructure currently to detain and process all the migrants seeking entry into the country.  The proposition of simply letting everyone cross into the United States without detention and processing is dangerous. 

 It is a fool’s heart that believes all the migrants coming into the United States have the best of intentions.  Some are drug dealers.  Some are human traffickers.  Some are rapists and murders.  Some are terrorists.  To deny this fact – to pretend all of these migrants along the southern border are tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free is to have contempt for the truth. 

Why would Senator Harris raise her hand in support of such a fanciful position? Did she not serve as the District Attorney of the City and County of San Francisco for two terms?  Was she not the Attorney General of California?  As a prosecutor, Harris must have encountered some of the most heinous criminals.  She witnessed the many atrocities some wicked people are capable of committing.  She has to know that there are bad actors along all of the borders of the United States that will add nothing to our society other than pain and heartache. So why did she raise her hand?  Politics – plain and simple is the only explanation.

Harris has also used the disingenuous, democrat presidential candidate talking point – “I will release children from cages.”  She knows that children are not being held in cages.  The facility that children are being detained was built during the Obama Administration.  The building has chain-link fencing built inside of it to keep children separated from adults – for the protection of the children.

 If the democrats want to keep misleading the American people, if the liberal media wants to continue with its half-truths and lies of omission about President Trump, if Kamala Harris wants the independent voter to trust her, then all of the above need to stop with the deception.  If republicans and democrats want to call where these children are held, “cages,” so be it.  If democrats want to continue shouting that Trump is locking children up in cages – then they should at least have the decency to say ‘Trump is locking up children in Obama’s cages’. 

 The Trump Administration has repeatedly explained that it seeks legal immigration into the United States.  Along the southern border, President Trump wants migrants to enter through doors – not over or under walls.  There are 50 locations along the southern border where migrants can enter the United States legally. 

Trump also wants asylum laws changed so that migrants cannot claim that they are seeking asylum when they do not meet the criteria of a valid asylum seeker.  The liberal media and the far-left have used these simple and reasonable positions of the Trump Administration to wrongly accuse the President of being racist.  The fact is the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalized 756,800 people in fiscal year 2018.  That is a 16 percent increase from 2014.  These statistics makes President Trump a PRO-IMMIGRATION and NATURALIZATION president.
