Democrats Calling for an Assault Weapon Ban seek to Endanger American Lives  

Note: There’s no “assault weapon” classification within the firearm industry. There is no such nomenclature. “Assault weapon” is a fictitious phrase liberals came up with to rationalize infringing upon the constitutional rights of the American people. A semi-automatic rifle that is black, magazine fed, has handguards, a flash suppressor, front site post, and fires a 5.56mm round is no more an “assault weapon” than a Remington 750 Woodmaster with a fine wood finish. Normal Americans know this. The lunatic left likely knows this too, but doesn’t care.

The usage of the “assault weapon” terminology in this article is a reflection of the left’s lunacy. It’s not meant to perpetuate the liberal Democrat fraud.

Democratic Socialists / Communists

As much as a government might desire to protect all of its people all of the time, no government can fulfill such a promise. Attempting to provide this level of protection always requires taking away freedom and liberty from the people. This is the mistake today’s Democrat is making. They believe they are in Congress to protect the people when they are not. Members of Congress are there to protect the rights of the people first and foremost. States and local governments are to provide protection of persons and property. But even then, state and local police cannot be at all places all of the time. To give the individual self-sufficiency, our Bill of Rights guarantees the right to bear arms. It is the great equalizer when used as it is intended.

Democrats refuse to admit that the primary change in our cultural beat over the last fifty years has been the volume of liberalism in education and American culture. It is proportional to the murder rate.

Hamas Invades Israel

Gun free zones are the worst place to be when under attack by people with guns. On October 7, 2023 thousands of Israelis and guests were joyfully dancing in the Negev Desert in Southern Israel at the Supernova festival. As is the case with most festivals, sporting events, and concerts where large crowds of people gather, guns / weapons were prohibited. In the early Saturday sky, the ravers watched as hundreds of men were parachuting down from the sky in close proximity to the festival grounds. Somewhat bewildered, they watched and watched, trying to make sense of what they were witnessing. Maybe it was part of the festival some of them must have initially thought. Curiosity kept them frozen in place until the Hamas gunfire erupted. At least 260 people in attendance were killed. The others ran for their lives through the desert as they were hunted by Hamas terrorists. During an interview on Sunday, one of the survivors said all he wanted was to be able to access a weapon for protection.

American Firepower

Oh, that would never happen here in the United States the Democrats say. They might be right but they never consider why a foreign adversary has yet to land ground troops on American soil. It’s because the civilian population is so heavily armed!  In 2023, the number of firearms in the United States is around 466 million. Approximately one-third of all the civilian guns in the world are owned by Americans.[1]

Civilians own approximately 98% of all the firearms. Approximately 43% of all American households own at least one firearm. The majority of gunowners 82.7% own at least one handgun. Rifles are owned by 68.8% of gunowners. This includes the semi-automatic rifles the Democrats call assault weapons. Democrats also like to call these rifles weapons of war.

With 98% of all firearms in the United States being owned by civilians (456,680,000 guns) if the firearm was the problem, we’d all be dead! There are an estimated 30 million AR-15 “style” rifles owned by Americans. Again, with that many AR-15’s in circulation, if that style of semi-automatic rifle was the problem, we’d all be dead! Clearly, the firearm is not the problem. Semi-automatic handguns and rifles are not the problem. The problem is a minuscule percentage of the population who resort to homicide or suicide to deal with life. Jeopardizing the safety of law-abiding citizens and the security of the nation is no solution to the “murder” problem. Democrats refuse to concede that the primary thing that has changed in the last fifty years in America is the volume of liberalism in education and American culture. It is proportional to the murder rate.

Across the United States there are safe, heavily armed communities of law-abiding Americans who are prepared to defend their neighborhoods in a time of emergency when law enforcement might be taxed to its limits. “Red” states are filled with ready minutemen[2] in the event of foreign adversaries landing ground troops. The collective of armed American civilians, without the assistance of the active military, could repel most foreign armies. Consider how many veterans are in our ranks! 

The liberal goal of infringing upon the rights of the armed civilian population by limiting the type of firearms civilians can bear is as foolish as it is dangerous. Rest assured, if foreign soldiers are ever approaching Main Street U.S.A. while our military and law enforcement are preoccupied elsewhere, the same Democrats who support a ban on some if not all firearms will be seeking protection behind their well-armed neighbors.

The next time you hear a Democrat in your statehouse or Congress call for bringing back the “assault weapon ban” remind him or her of these truths. We must fathom the unfathomable and plan accordingly. American lives are at stake. It’s a matter of national security – like it or not.
