Mass Murderers Commit Mass Murder

Each time a mass murder occurs in the United States, there are a number of public responses that are guaranteed. Within the hour of the first news report of an active shooter, democrats around the nation will renew their war on the 2nd Amendment while calling for a ban on what they call assault weapons. Liberal propagandists in newsrooms everywhere, with fingers crossed behind their backs, will be hoping the shooter is a white male with numerous social media accounts populated with pro-Trump imagery and America First jargon.

They’d never admit it, but deep down inside these devils of division secretly hope the victims are black. Have you noticed that if a white cop shoots and kills an unarmed black man, that single event will be discussed on every liberal news show for weeks, but if a mentally ill woman goes into a Christian school and kills three adults and three school children, her name, transgenderism, and aversion for Christianity falls out of interest within days?  Even casual observers recognize how political and agenda driven the news media has become nowadays. This grotesque bias takes away from all the victims, whether killed by a cop who used unwarranted deadly force, or a transgender who was out of her mind for no good reason.

What is quickly lost in the news coverage is this simple fact. Mass murderers commit mass murder. Firearms, regardless of style, shape, or color, do not commit mass murder. Ford Bronco’s do not commit mass murder. Neither do moving trucks, recreational vehicles, or buses. Improvised explosive devices do not commit mass murder, and neither do butcher knives. Fire doesn’t commit mass murder. Poisons and concoctions don’t either. It takes a human being committed to killing people, for a mass murder to occur. All the aforementioned objects, elements, substances, and devices could be available twice as much as they are today, but if there is no mind warped towards becoming a mass murderer, no mass murder would ever occur.

What Changed in the Equation?

When troubleshooting a problem, find what changed in the equation to fix it. There has been a tragic increase in active shooter incidents since 2017. The FBI designated 61 active shooter incidents in 2021. That’s more than a 50% increase over 2020.

In 2021, the FBI designated 61 shootings as active shooter incidents. In these incidents, 103 people were killed and 140 wounded, excluding the shooters. For the period 2017–2021, active shooter incident data reveals an upward trend. The number of active shooter incidents identified in 2021 represents a 52.5% increase from 2020 and a 96.8% increase from 2017. Active Shooter Incidents in the United States in 2021 report.

Casualty counts are higher for 2021 (243) when compared with 2020 (164), indicating a 48% increase. The casualties in 2021 represents the third highest total casualty count over the last five years (2017–2021). 2021 saw the highest number of deaths (103) since 2017, a 171.1% increase from 2020 and above the average (92.3) for the period 2017–2020. There was an 11.1% increase in people wounded (140) in 2021 compared with 2020 (126), but below the average (253) for the period 2017–2020.

Democrats are quick to blame the weapons, particularly AR-15’s. But the weapon has not changed in the equation. AR-15’s and many other semi-automatic rifles have been readily available since the 1950’s. They are not a new deadly plague on society like fentanyl for example. When we study the rise in overdose deaths in the United States since 2017, and ask what changed in the equation, the answer is fentanyl with no debate.

A Word about the 2nd Amendment

A disappointing number of Americans today do not understand, or refuse to accept, the purpose and original intent of the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Mostly liberal Democrats, their ignorance and stubborn lack of acceptance precedes every call to infringe upon the rights of Americans to keep and bear arms. There are no limits expressed in the 2nd Amendment. Despite what the “government” would have you to believe, no permission is required from the government to exercise our 2nd Amendment rights.

The government cannot lawfully take away this right unless the right is forfeited by an American citizen through his or her felony criminal conduct. These facts do not deter the liberal though. Whenever a person[s] falls victim to another person armed with a firearm, somewhere there’s a Democrat calling for a weapon ban of one type or another. If liberals, socialists, and communists would accept that firearms will remain part of American society for as long as the 2nd Amendment stands, then perhaps, real debate over how to solve the murderous psychosis that is spreading in our society will occur.

Getting Into the Mind of a Mass Murderer

In his article, The Mind of the Mass Murderer – Understanding the motivations won’t be enough to prevent the crimes, Allen J. Frances M.D. provides one of the best summaries of the mind of a mass murderer. What politicians and policy makers must understand is if a man convinces himself that committing mass murder is his only remaining option on Earth, he’ll find a way to inflict his pain onto others, with or without firearms. The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City are two examples. Bombings are few because of gun availability. It is not unreasonable to suspect that if all firearms were removed from American society, bombings, stabbings, and people bludgeoned to death would increase. Americans must get to the root causes of what is driving people to commit such heinous acts.

Dr. Frances writes:

The mass murderer is an injustice collector who spends a great deal of time feeling resentful about real or imagined rejections and ruminating on past humiliations. He has a paranoid worldview with chronic feelings of social persecution, envy, and grudge-holding. He is tormented by beliefs that privileged others are enjoying life’s all-you-can-eat buffet, while he must peer through the window, an outside loner always looking in.

Aggrieved and entitled, he longs for power and revenge to obliterate what he cannot have. Since satisfaction is unobtainable lawfully and realistically, the mass murderer is reduced to violent fantasy and pseudo-power. He creates and enacts an odious screenplay of grandiose and public retribution. Like the child who upends the checkerboard when he does not like the way the game is going, he seeks to destroy others for apparent failures to recognize and meet his needs. Fury, deep despair, and callous selfishness eventually crystalize into fantasies of violent revenge on a scale that will draw attention. The mass murderer typically expects to die and frequently does in what amounts to a mass homicide-personal suicide. He may kill himself or script matters so that he will be killed by the police.

This is What Changed in the Equation

Progressivism and liberalism in American public-school education began to push against conservativism in the early 1970’s. Teaching right from wrong, strict enforcement of rules, and fear of punishment began to be replaced by freedom of unruly expression, tolerance of insubordination and poor academic performance, and the acceptance of feelings being more important than facts. Rather than helping school children mature emotionally, liberalism has created two to three generations of emotionally driven adults.

This is reflected in every aspect of our society today. Facts don’t matter. How someone feels is all that’s important. When combined with social media, entertainment, and the push for godless immorality, it’s not difficult to understand how some of these emotionally driven people, who didn’t learn how to control their emotions while they were supposed to be growing up, developed a paranoid worldview with chronic feelings of social persecution.

And in response, Democrats ultimately seek to disarm approximately 100 million lawful American gunowners. Such infringement will solve nothing other than to endanger law abiding citizens and weaken our national security. We must reset our moral compass and reestablish discipline, dignity, and respect in our younger populations to greatly reduce mass murder events.
