Ownership of firearms is a privilege in New Zealand and not a right
In New Zealand, the Arms Act of 1983 was the law governing guns and gun ownership prior to the two mosque shootings on March 15, 2019. These attacks, perpetrated by the same shooter, killed 50 people and injured 50 more. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern referred to the attacks as “one of New Zealand’s darkest days”. Less than one week later, Ardern announced a ban of all military-style semiautomatic and assault rifles. The ban order went into effect at 3 pm on March 21, 2019.
New Zealand’s Arms (Military Style Semi-automatic Firearms) Order 2019, defines a military-style semiautomatic firearms and assault rifles as:
a) a semi-automatic firearm that is capable of being used in combination with a detachable magazine (other than one designed to hold 0.22-inch or less rimfire cartridges) that is capable of holding more than 5 cartridges:
b) a semi-automatic firearm that is a shotgun and that is capable of being used in combination with a detachable magazine that is capable of holding more than 5 cartridges.
The phrase military-style has no valve other than to deceive people into believing that the weapons that are now illegal have no business in the hands of the citizenry. New Zealand will be confiscating most every rifle that is worth having for self-defense, making New Zealanders a soft target for criminals. Furthermore, once all the confiscated weapons are destroyed, New Zealand will become a softer target for military invasion from another country.
Liberals and leftists in the United States were fast to praise Ardean as an example of how to respond to a mass shooting. Liberal Hilary Clinton pointed to the ban coming “…just six days after the Christchurch mosque attacks.” Clinton continued, “Public servants didn’t stop at offering thoughts and prayers. They chose to act.”
Leftist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who won her primary against Congressman Joe Crowley with a minuscule 11.8 percent voter turnout, believes that Ardean’s actions demonstrate the type of leadership the United States lacks. Ocasio-Cortez writes on Twitter, “Christchurch happened, and within days New Zealand acted to get weapons of war out of the consumer market.” “This is what leadership looks like.”
While Ocasio-Cortez clearly lacks emotional and intellectual development for her age, she behaves more like a high school sophomore starved for attention, her weapons of war rhetoric dramatizes and feeds the leftist and liberal frenzy to disarm the United States in the name public safety. The liberal media do love their A.O.C. Fortunately, the liberal and leftist ilk, they all keep running into the Constitution of the United States of America.
The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Liberals and leftists say the strangest things when defending their contempt for the 2nd Amendment. They often claim the ‘well regulated militia’ is the National Guard in each state. Of course this is wrong! The National Guard is a joint activity of the United States Department of Defense (DoD) composed of reserve components of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. They shout that when the 2nd Amendment was adopted, the ‘arms’ of the day were muzzle-loading flintlock muskets that fired a single round and took a minute, on average, to fire 3 rounds. If, between their arm flares and eye rolls, it’s pointed out that there is no point in keeping a musket under your bed if invaders have semi-automatic or automatic rifles, they’ll say that the invader wouldn’t be allowed to have those weapons either. Not allowed. That’s the liberal and leftist plan for your safety. Just hang a sign on your house and church door that says NO GUNS ALLOWED. That should do the trick.
What the liberals and leftists ignore, because it’s unpleasant to imagine, is that a well regulated militia is needed to protect the free-state from a federal government gone rouge. All 50 states of this Constitutional Republic should have an armed citizenry, armed with weapons on par with current military rifles, to protect itself from the federal government if necessary. And the people, we the people, have the right, the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. And those arms need to be modern and current, on par with the weapons of an invader, so that we stand a fair chance of repelling an attack. We the People are not to be soft targets. Our nation is not to be a soft target.
So what is the solution to stop all these mass shootings? How do we stop church shootings? How to we protect synagogues and mosques? How can we protect our schools?
